Item Description

Put some zing in your baskets and containers!

A drought tolerant sun lover.

New to our range this year.

'Delospermum Cooperi' is sometimes known as the Trailing Ice plant. Growing to about 7-8 cms tall, this evergreen perennial has soft, narrow, succulent-like fleshy leaves.

It is the flowers that make this plant stand out. A mass of vibrant pink daisy-like blooms are produced throughout Summer up until the first severe frosts. So profuse can they be, in the right conditions, the plant is often known as 'pink carpet'. It spreading habit makes it superb for alpine and rockery gardens, walls or border edges. It would also look stunning in a hanging basket or trailing over the edge of a container. The secret with this plant is a hot and dry site with well drained soil. It is very drought tolerant, and copes with pollution well. Originally a favourite native of South Africa, we would consider this plant to be half hardy. It is affected by the frosts and needs protection in the winter. Take cuttings to ensure survival, or alternatively grow just as summer bedding.

These are supplied as very well rooted healthy plug plants and are ready for potting straight into at least a 9cm pot. They are best grown on in a frost free greenhouse or indoors on a windowsill and planted out into the Hanging Basket or garden once fully established.
