This beautiful citrus will make an ideal gift for plant lovers and lemonade drinkers alike!!

You are buying one Espalier Meyer Lemon plant in a 20cm pot, plant height 50-60 cm above the pot. Most of our stock are currently with fruit.

This is thought to be a natural hybrid between a lemon and an orange and was discovered in China in 1908. It can produce fragrant flowers and fruits all year. Like the common lemon, it has juicy, oval yellow fruits with a similar flavour- though less sharp.

"Espalier" are vertical trellises traditionally used to grow citrus on the continent, therefore this variety is perfect for growing against a trellis or wall to produce a beautiful living wall of fruit even in the smallest of spaces! The plant can remain in a pot or be planted straight into the ground. As the plant grows just bend the branches and tie them to the structure as you would any climbing plant. Alternatively if you prefer you can keep as small container/patio plants and prune as required.

These plants are tolerant to the cold, but it is wise to overwinter indoors or protect plants during periods of extreme cold. They grow best in a free draining soil and prefer full sun, with regular feeding necessary to produce a healthy tree. Meyer Lemon will produce fruit more freely with higher temperatures and excellent results can be achieved when grown in a greenhouse or conservatory.
