This beautiful plant will make an ideal gift!
You are buying one Kumquat plant in a 20cm pot, plant height approximately 30-40cms above the pot. Most of our Fortunella Reale bush stock is currently in fruit.
These plants are fairly small growing but highly productive with bushy compact foliage. Unlike lemons, Kumquats have very few thorns. They produce small, very fragrant, single white flowers, followed by small smooth oval orange fruits that last well on the plants. The leaves are a dark glossy green. The Kumquat originates from China where they are mostly eaten raw as the rind is sweet and the juicy centre sour.
They are often used for making preserves and or used as a garnish in alcoholic beverages.
These plants are tolerant to the cold, but it is wise to overwinter indoors or protect plants during periods of extreme cold. They grow best in a free draining soil and prefer full sun, with regular feeding necessary to produce a healthy tree. The Kumquat will produce fruit more freely with higher temperatures and excellent results can be achieved when grown in a greenhouse or conservatory.
The images shown are of an actual plant we hold in stock. Where fruit is shown it may be in a ripe or unripened state. We will always endeavour to send plants that are currently fruiting (as may be shown in the image). However, occasionally this is not possible with every specimen and your citrus may not have fruit on it at the time of sending. Plants with fruit will be sent subject to availability and on a first come first served basis.
