This maple has fresh green foliage. It is fully hardy and because this tree is grafted onto a specially selected base it will thrive in any type of soil. It is also noted for its pollution tolerance so should not be affected if grown near a busy road. It prefers a spot in the sun or semi shade. A vigourous grower in its natural form it can eventually attain a height of 5-10m. However this standard Acer can be pruned to retain its shape and height. Its dense compact crown has made it a great favourite amongst architects in urban development. It also makes it a great specimen tree for a small or medium sized garden.
